Ithai Limited is seeking responsible and proactive Managers to oversee daily operations, ensuring a high standard of customer service, compliance, and team leadership. The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of our dining establishment and be responsible for both operational and legal duties under New Zealand law.

Key Responsibilities

Menu and Event Planning

  • Plan menus in consultation with chefs, ensuring variety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Organise and coordinate special functions and events to meet client expectations and business goals.

Procurement and Financial Oversight

  • Arrange the purchasing and pricing of food, beverages, and supplies in line with the allocated budget.

  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels and all financial transactions related to operations.

Compliance and Facility Standards

  • Ensure all dining facilities comply with health and safety regulations.

  • Monitor cleanliness, functionality, and overall appearance of the premises to maintain a welcoming and professional environment.

Customer Engagement

  • Confer with customers to evaluate satisfaction regarding meals and service quality.

  • Resolve complaints or concerns efficiently and courteously.

Staff Supervision

  • Select, train, and supervise both kitchen and waiting staff to deliver outstanding service.

  • Foster a positive work environment through ongoing coaching, communication, and support.

Front-of-House Duties

  • Take reservations, greet guests upon arrival, and assist in taking food and beverage orders as needed to support team operations.

Legal Responsibilities as Duty Manager (under New Zealand law)

  • Responsible for the sale and supply of alcohol

  • Monitor and manage patrons to prevent intoxication and underage drinking.

  • Maintain compliance with the conditions of the venue’s alcohol licence.

  • Display the manager's certificate and licence conditions prominently as required by law.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for authorities (e.g. Police, licensing inspectors) during operating hours.

  • Complete incident logs and reports as necessary and handle any issues that may impact legal compliance or customer safety.

Other Related Tasks

  • Perform other related duties as required to support the smooth and efficient operation of the establishment.

Requirements

  • At least one year of relevant work experience; or

  • A New Zealand Register Diploma (Level 5) or higher qualification in a relevant field, such as Business Management or Business Administration, regardless of the major. Any overseas qualification must be comparable to the relevant New Zealand qualification; or

  • A Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) and a Manager’s Certificate.

Other details

  • This is a full-time and permanent position

  • The wage ranges from $26.50 to $40.00 per hour, depending on skill and experience, with weekly payments.

  • Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

  • Work location: 39 Elliott Street, Auckland

  • You will be required to work according to a roster, 5–6 days per week, with a guarantee of 30 hours (maximum 48 hours).
