Vehicle Painter wanted!

BYD Auto Ltd T/A A1 Collision Repair is a Christchurch-based company. We are looking for multiple Vehicle Painters to join us. This is a full time role with a minimum 30 hours per week.

The main duty of this role is to prepare the surfaces of vehicles, match and mix colours and apply paint.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Removing rough spots on vehicle panels to prepare further work.
• Sanding surfaces by hand or with power tools
• Masking areas that are not to be painted with cover, tape and paper.
• Colour matching and mixing paints to match paint shades and selecting pre-mixed paint.
• Applying primer and finishing coats using spray guns and sanding surfaces between coats
• Touching up paintwork and applying polish to vehicles
• Removing masking papers and waxing and polishing finished paintwork
• If may, painting signs and artwork on vehicles
• If may, treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals

The successful candidate must have

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience OR a relevant NZ Level 4 or above qualification.
• Good work attitude and good communication skills
• Strong motivation
• Physical fitness and could handle the heavy workload
• Quality workmanship and eye for detail
• Strong dedication to health and workplace safety
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other team members.
• Strong ability to work independently
