Finance Systems Business Analyst

Archway Recruitment

Date: 2 days ago
City: Wellington, Wellington
Contract type: Full time

We're excited to be recruiting for two Financial Systems Business Analyst positions that span the gap between Finance, IT, and a broad range of business stakeholder groups.

Our client, a large central government agency, is continuing to grow its finance systems capability and is looking to appoint two permanent Financial Systems Business Analysts. These roles sit within a specialist systems team supporting a complex and evolving Oracle ERP and EPM environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Business Analyst who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, navigating complexity and helping organisations adopt system change in a considered and practical way. The team is open to complementary skill sets across the two hires, creating flexibility across seniority rather than looking for two identical profiles.

About The Role

Reporting into a finance systems leadership team, you will act as the link between finance, technology and the wider business. The focus of the role is on analysis, engagement and influence rather than pure delivery.

You will work alongside system specialists to understand how ongoing FMIS and ERP enhancements, upgrades and new functionality impact business processes, user experience and risk. This includes helping stakeholders assess change, clarify requirements and make informed decisions about adopting new technologies.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Engaging with finance and business stakeholders to capture and clarify system and process requirements
  • Analysing the impact of Oracle ERP and EPM enhancements, including UX and AI driven changes
  • Translating business needs into clear system requirements and change impacts
  • Supporting continuous improvement across finance systems and integrated applications
  • Contributing to documentation, training and user support as changes are rolled out

The environment is characterised by ongoing enhancement and incremental change, and suited to someone who enjoys implementing continuous improvements in a complex organisation with ever-changing landscape.

About You

This role will suit a Business Analyst who is comfortable working in complex environments and enjoys stakeholder-facing work. You will ideally bring:

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst within ERP, FMIS or HRIS systems
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience analysing business processes and assessing system change impacts
  • Comfort working with iterative enhancements rather than large-scale transformations
  • Exposure to Oracle ERP or EPM is advantageous but not essential

Benefits

You will be joining a stable and well supported public sector environment with a strong focus on flexibility and wellbeing. The role offers:

  • Hybrid working once established in the role, and a hiring manager happy to negotiate the flexibility arrangement around the preferred candidates requirements.
  • Health and wellbeing subsidies and Southern Cross discounts
  • Extra paid parental leave and childcare subsidies
  • Exposure to complex enterprise finance systems
  • The opportunity to influence how systems evolve rather than just delivering change
