Systems Accountant

This is a newly created Systems Accountant role within a large, values-led not-for-profit organisation supporting a diverse range of community-focused operations across New Zealand. The finance team partners closely with operational leaders, providing insight, advice and robust financial systems that enable informed decision making at the frontline.

This role sits within a central finance function and is focused on ensuring financial systems are fit for purpose, well-governed and continuously improved. You will be the go-to person for finance systems administration, system enhancements and user support, working closely with internal stakeholders and external providers.

About The Role

As Systems Accountant, you will take ownership of the organisation's core finance systems, with a strong focus on TechOne. You will support system upgrades, budgeting and year-end processes, and ensure financial data is accurate, secure and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance financial systems to support timely and accurate reporting
• Perform end-to-end system administration of TechOne
• Support system upgrades, integrations and ongoing improvements
• Develop and maintain policies and documentation relating to finance systems
• Create and deliver training tools to support effective system use
• Work closely with finance and operational teams to support financial management outcomes

Some of the key pieces of specific project and improvement work you could tackle in your first 12-24 months include an AP automation project, and also looking in to the suite of reports provided to the business.

About You

This role suits someone who is naturally proactive and comfortable taking ownership. Whilst it is a large finance team, you will be the only Systems Accountant and as such you need to be a self-starter rather than waiting for work to come to you.

The employer is open-minded to the type of career background you might come from, and as such you don't have to already be an established Systems Accountant with extensive experience working with TechOne in New Zealand.

You may be someone recently or near qualified who is working in a firm environment or an assistant accountant with TechOne exposure and keen to develop a career in systems accounting. You may have recently migrated to the country and possess a visa and relevant overseas work experience and looking for your first shot in NZ, or a systems accountant with experience in other FMIS software and keen to gain exposure to TechOne. The client is genuinely open-minded.

However, Ideally, You Will

• Have a background in accounting or finance systems support
• Possess strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Be comfortable working across systems, processes and people
• Be values-driven and aligned to working in a purpose-led organisation
