Mo te tunga | About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a significant digital transformation as the Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport (MCERT) comes together on 1 July. Strong foundations are already in place, with important work still to come.
You will help design and deliver our Microsoft platform, working across M365 and much of the Azure environment to ensure a secure, scalable, and well-governed platform and support business-critical services. You will help implement additional M365/Azure modules and services as MCERT's usage grows and matures.
You will also support the migration of data and systems from the foundation agencies into MCERT, helping set them up to deliver strong outcomes for our people and the public.
This is a hands-on role where you will lead and support others to use best-practice configuration for code and pipeline approaches to cloud management.
The salary range for this role is $145,909 - $178,333 + Kiwisaver contribution.

You will be passionate about best use of cloud, with deep technical skills that allow you to demonstrate your vision. You will be comfortable working with others in the organisation and with our partners to achieve great outcomes.
Ideally your skills and experience will include:
- Ability to collaborate with the wider team and partners
- Strong cloud management and administration skills
- Significant experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms
- Experience in information security or an advantage
- A soft spot for the daily quiz and a team coffee

Please note that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and it's workforce will transition into the new Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport (MCERT) on 1 July 2026. Therefore, the successful applicant's employment would be transferred from HUD to MCERT as at 1 July, along with other Ministry staff.
