About the role

As a Financial & Project Accountant, you’ll support the integrity of financial information across both asset management and project accounting activities. Reporting to the Financial Reporting & Consolidation Lead, you’ll be involved in core accounting processes while also contributing to financial insights and analysis.

This is a key role within the Financial Accounting team, where you’ll help identify opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies that strengthen how the team operates. Your work will contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely reporting across the co-operative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support monthly financial reporting, including analysing and explaining variances.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements, including consolidations and disclosures.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting and reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with financial records.
  • Prepare and post journals to maintain accuracy of financial records.
  • Manage project-related financial tracking and reporting across the portfolio.
  • Administer project systems and maintain planning data (e.g. Planview).

About you

You’ll be an accountant with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to your work. Comfortable working with financial data, you’ll enjoy problem solving and can communicate insights clearly to a range of stakeholders. Ideally, you’ll also bring:

  • A CA, CPA or other accredited accounting body certification (or working towards this)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships
  • A proactive mindset, with a focus on identifying better ways of working
  • Exposure to the FMCG or retail industry as well as SAP or ERP systems would be beneficial but not essential
