NHS Grampian is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and motivated Locum Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our friendly and forward-thinking department for an 11‑month fixed‑term appointment. This post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a busy and diverse orthopaedic service in the UK.

The successful candidate will participate in the 1:6 Paediatric Trauma on‑call rota and will bring a subspecialist interest in elective adult orthopaedics that complements our existing consultant team. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in Lower Limb Arthroplasty, Soft Tissue Knee Surgery, or Foot & Ankle Surgery.

This post is based across Woodend Hospital (adult elective orthopaedics) and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (Paediatric Trauma) and is offered on a whole‑time basis. You will join a vibrant department of 29 Orthopaedic Consultants committed to delivering high‑quality care, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Our department provides Trauma and Elective service for the Grampian region and acts as a tertiary referral centre for Highland, Shetland, and Orkney. We have an active research and teaching programme, and Aberdeen is home to the Major Trauma Centre for the North of Scotland.
