Were looking for a Technical Lead to play a key role in shaping and delivering technology solutions across some of our most critical platforms.

This is people leader role managing the small team and lead from the front, driving technical excellence, modern engineering practices and high-quality customer experiences in a fast-paced, agile environment.

As a Technical Lead, youll contribute to the planning and execution of technology strategy, helping deliver scalable, secure and innovative digital solutions. Youll work within a modern product and services environment, championing agile delivery, continuous improvement and contemporary engineering practices, while supporting teams to build resilient platforms that power great customer experiences.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Tmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

  • Lead and drive technical excellence, ensuring high-quality design, development and delivery
  • Provide oversight on technical architecture, design decisions and platform standards
  • Champion adoption of modern tools, frameworks and engineering practices
  • Enable teams to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing digital experiences
  • Contribute to technology strategy, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and coach engineers, support performance, development and engagement, fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture
  • Ensure alignment with architecture principles, governance standards and business outcomes
  • Drive delivery of complex initiatives with measurable business value

u Pkenga me u Wheako | What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years relevant IT industry experience within complex technology environments, with hands-on expertise in React, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Experience building cloud-native and serverless applications (AWS Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Strong understanding of performance and observability (e.g. New Relic).
  • Experience building enterprise-grade and digital applications
  • Strong background in Agile, CI/CD and continuous delivery environments
  • Experience with systems integration, environment management and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and modern architecture approaches.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead in matrix environments
  • Strong focus on quality, reusability and scalable solution design
