About Us | Mō mātou

The purpose of the Government Inquiry into the Fatal Landslides in Tauranga is to establish how the fatal landslides occurred, report on whether relevant agencies took appropriate steps to manage any apparent risk in the period immediately prior to the two fatal landslides, including steps to warn and evacuate people likely to be affected by the landslides, and identify any lessons that can be applied to reduce the risk of similar tragedies in future.

The role | Te tūnga

Ideally starting in early July, as Inquiry Support Director you will be responsible for managing a team of highly effective team of business support professionals and identifying and sourcing other resources as required. You will bring extensive planning, reporting and governance experience to the Inquiry working closely with the Head of Advisory, reporting regularly to the Members and Executive Director.

As a key member of the Inquiry’s Senior Leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and intellectual leadership to the Support function primarily addressing governance, business planning, information management and health, safety and security advice.

You will be confident communicator and comfortable working at pace. Politically savvy, you will know how to navigate complex environments, anticipating risks and future issues, tailoring information which connects with a range of audiences.

What you bring | Nōu te rourou

  • Experience leading high performing teams responsible for multiple disciplines including information management, governance and Health, Safety and Security
  • Depth of knowledge of the role of the Public Service, machinery of government and the independent role of an Inquiry
  • A proven history of providing of high-quality services and advice
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritise and reprioritise work and understand critical pathways and connections between teams
  • Possess a highly tuned risk radar
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills alongside effective issue resolution and problem-solving skills
