About the Organisation

Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust (The Trust) is the Post-Settlement Governance Entity responsible for managing the Treaty Settlement assets on behalf of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua. Guided by kaupapa Māori values, it is focused on delivering enduring social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits.

The role

The Trust is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to help protect and grow its assets for current and future generations. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an organisation committed to sustainable, intergenerational outcomes for whānau, hapū, and iwi through strong financial stewardship and kaupapa-driven leadership. Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the integrity, performance, and strategic oversight of the finance function across a diverse and evolving group of entities, including trusts, investments, and commercial operations. As a trusted advisor, you will ensure financial resources are managed effectively, risks are mitigated, and leadership has access to timely, accurate insights to support decision-making. This influential role blends financial leadership, governance reporting, and commercial strategy. Working closely with the CFO and leadership team, you will help safeguard and enhance the Trust’s asset base while supporting long-term priorities.

About you

• Chartered Accountant (CAANZ, CPA or equivalent)
• 7–12+ years’ experience in senior financial leadership roles
• Strong technical accounting expertise and IFRS knowledge
• Experience in complex, multi-entity reporting and consolidations
• Proven capability across audit, risk, and internal controls
• Advanced financial systems and analytical skills
• Ability to clearly communicate complex financial information
• Collaborative, relationship-focused approach

Experience in trusts, investment entities, Māori organisations, or complex group structures will be highly regarded.
