We are seeking an experienced, qualified medical practitioner to serve as Chair of the Commission’s independent Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Committee (TUEC).
The Chair will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the TUEC, ensuring robust, fair and timely decision-making in relation to athletes’ TUE applications to allow them to use a medication that contains a substance or involves a method that is prohibited in sport, for documented medical conditions. The process for assessing TUE applications is regulated by the World Anti-Doping Code (Code), associated International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE), and in consideration of relevant World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines.
This role adds value to New Zealand sport by ensuring the robust, consistent and independent consideration of Therapeutic Use Exemption applications, to support athlete health and protect fair competition.

- Oversee the assessment and determination of TUE applications in accordance with the Code and ISTUE
- Ensure consistency, integrity and independence in decision-making
- Facilitate committee meetings and guide consensus decisions
- Provide expert advice and governance to support athlete health and fair competition
- Ensure alignment with relevant WADA guidelines and up-to-date medical advice
