He Angitūtanga / The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic

Kitchen Hand / Driver to join our team at Nelson Hospital.

This is a permanent part-time opportunity offering a minimum of 5 guaranteed hours per week. You will support our busy healthcare food service operation with food preparation, meal service, cleaning and deliveries, helping us provide a quality catering experience for patients, customers and our wider hospital community.

A clean, full driver licence is essential as you will be required to collect and deliver food to sites.

Ko o Kawenga / Your Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, presentation, sandwich making and meal service
• Transport and deliver food safely and efficiently to required sites
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Wash dishes and keep kitchen, dining and food service areas clean and hygienic
• Receive, replenish and rotate stock and supplies as required
• Follow food safety, infection control, health and safety, and site procedures

He Kōrero Mōu / About You

• A clean, full driver licence is essential for food collection and deliveries
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or similar environment is preferred
• A Food Handling Certificate, including Unit Standard 167, is desirable, or you are willing to complete the required training
• Good communication and customer service skills with a friendly, professional approach
• A reliable, hard-working team player who can also work independently
• Physically fit, flexible and committed to high standards of food safety, hygiene and service
