12-month fixed term contract, $40/hour.

The Education Hub is a New Zealand-based not-for-profit organisation that supports teachers and educators across the early childhood education (ECE), primary, and secondary sectors by producing research-informed, practical resources. Our work helps educators connect evidence-based practice with everyday teaching, and we are committed to making high-quality educational research accessible and useful for the profession.
Purpose of the Role
The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for raising awareness of The Education Hub's resources and services among ECE, primary, and secondary educators, and driving sales of our online courses and webinar subscriptions. This role manages our social media presence, produces regular communications to our audience, gathers feedback from educators on our resources, and delivers marketing campaigns and conference engagements that grow our reach within schools and ECE settings.
Key Responsibilities
Media and social media
Draft, post, and monitor content across our social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Develop and maintain accounts on additional social media platforms as required.
Preparing press releases and managing requests from journalists.
Reviewing mainstream media for relevant articles and other activity pertinent to the work of The Education Hub.
Newsletters and communications
Write and distribute a regular Education Hub newsletter and other mailouts to promote specific resources and events.
Educator feedback
Establish and lead a live feedback group spanning the ECE, primary, and secondary sectors to gather ongoing feedback on Education Hub resources.
Marketing campaigns
Design and implement direct marketing campaigns to promote Education Hub products and resources to schools and ECE settings, and drive sales of our online courses and webinar subscriptions.
Conferences and events
Identify and attend relevant educational conferences to promote The Education Hub.
Plan The Education Hub’s 10-year anniversary celebrations in 2027.
Other duties
Attendance at weekly team meeting, and other meetings as required.
Key Relationships
Internal: CEO, learning team, office manager.
External: Educators and school/ECE leaders across the ECE, primary, and secondary sectors; conference organisers; media, social media and communications platforms.
Person Specification
Skills and experience
This role requires intermediate-level experience, specifically:
Experience managing social media accounts and content for an organisation or brand.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write accurate, engaging copy for varied audiences.
Experience with email marketing or newsletter platforms (specifically Mailchimp).
Experience developing and delivering marketing campaigns, ideally in an education or non-profit setting.
Confident engaging with a range of stakeholders, including educators and school leaders.
Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
Desirable
An interest in, or understanding of, the New Zealand education sector (ECE, primary, and/or secondary).
Experience organising or attending conferences, expos, or similar events.
A commitment to ongoing learning about education and the work of The Education Hub.
