About Ryman

Ryman is a leader in retirement living and care, employing over 7,700 people in New Zealand and Australia across a wide range of areas, including nursing, village operations, sales, technology, design, and corporate roles.

At Ryman, exceptional care is thoughtfully delivered every day. From meals and activities to maintenance and support, our teams work together so residents can feel confident everything is taken care of – because behind that promise is the standard we’ve always held ourselves to: it’s got to be good enough for mum and dad.

We’re in a period of real transformation, focussing on stronger commercial outcomes, smarter ways of working, and continuing to set the standard in retirement living and aged care.

This is a unique opportunity to join our Transformation function and work directly with senior leaders on some of the most important commercial and operational opportunities across our New Zealand and Australian businesses.

What will you do?

At Ryman, we're looking for a commercially minded problem solver who wants to work on some of the biggest and most complex opportunities across our New Zealand and Australian businesses.

This isn't a traditional analyst role.

You'll work alongside senior leaders with former MBB and Big 4 experience to tackle complex challenges, explore new ways of operating, test commercial opportunities, and help shape decisions that influence the future of the business.

If you're currently in consulting, strategy, corporate finance, commercial analysis, or a similar environment and want to see your recommendations turn into real-world outcomes, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Why this role?

We're operating in a dynamic environment, with significant opportunities to improve the way we work, strengthen commercial performance, and create greater value across our business.

You'll be joining a team focused on solving some of the business's most important and complex challenges. These are opportunities that sit at the intersection of commercial performance, operating models, customer experience and long-term value creation, often with millions of dollars at stake.

One month, you might be building the commercial case for a new business opportunity.

The next, you could be evaluating the drivers of a significant revenue stream, identifying opportunities to improve operational performance, or helping shape the future operating model of a key area of the business.

You'll be asked to think strategically, challenge assumptions, navigate ambiguity, and turn complex problems into actionable solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Solving complex commercial and operational challenges across New Zealand and Australia.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis to uncover insights and opportunities.
  • Building business cases, financial models and decision-making frameworks.
  • Identifying revenue, cost and performance drivers across key areas of the business.
  • Developing practical recommendations that improve efficiency, effectiveness and business performance.
  • Working closely with operational leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to understand problems and test solutions.
  • Creating clear, compelling presentations and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Supporting and driving strategic initiatives from problem definition through to implementation.

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in consulting, strategy, corporate finance, commercial analysis, business improvement, transformation, or another analytical problem-solving environment.
  • A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capability.
  • Advanced Excel and strong PowerPoint skills.
  • The ability to distil complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve challenging business problems.
  • The confidence to influence stakeholders and drive conversations through insight and evidence.

Most importantly, you'll enjoy tackling ambiguity, asking great questions, and finding practical solutions to complex business challenges.

What's in it for you?

For the right person, this role offers something many consulting environments cannot:

  • The opportunity to own problems rather than simply advise on them.
  • Direct exposure to senior leaders and strategic decision-making.
  • The chance to see your recommendations implemented and delivering tangible business outcomes.
  • The opportunity to move from presenting recommendations to being accountable for results.
  • A broad remit spanning both New Zealand and Australia.
  • High-impact work without the constant travel and competing client demands.
  • Significant professional growth and exposure across a large, complex organisation.

At Ryman, digital confidence and commercial awareness are expectations we hold across every role. We are looking for people who are comfortable using data, reporting tools, and digital systems to inform decisions, understand how their work contributes to business outcomes, and embrace new ways of working. Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to grow your capability are key as our business continues to evolve.

We support an environment where everyone feels welcome to be themselves. We embrace diversity and celebrate individual uniqueness, encouraging anyone wanting to work for Ryman to apply for our vacant positions.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received and interviews may take place prior to the close date. This means a job ad may close before the advertised close date.
