Te Kowhiringa I The Opportunity

We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and experienced

Family Violence Advocacy Specialist to join our Auckland team.

Based across our Auckland offices, refuge centres and the wider community, you'll respond to people experiencing crisis, undertake risk assessments, develop safety plans, and work closely with a range of community agencies to support clients on their journey to safety.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll also participate in a weekend roster and occasional after-hours on-call support (with appropriate compensation).

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe I Your Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who has experience working in the family violence sector or you may have 'lived' experience. You may also be a qualified Social Worker or Counsellor with relevant family violence experience. Experience working within a refuge environment will be highly regarded.

You'll also bring:

  • A sound understanding of the dynamics and impacts of intimate partner and family violence.
  • Knowledge of local community services and social support networks.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with community agencies.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Resilience, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and participate in an on-call roster when required.
  • Must have a NZ full drivers’ licence.
