The Opportunity

Join Downer's Energy & Utilities business as a People & Culture Business Partner and play a key role in shaping the people strategy that drives operational success across New Zealand. Working closely with leaders and operational teams, you'll provide strategic and hands-on HR support across the employee lifecycle, helping to build high-performing teams, strengthen leadership capability, and deliver meaningful people outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and balancing strategic initiatives with operational delivery.

What We Are Looking For

We're seeking an experienced People & Culture professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys building trusted relationships across all levels of a business.

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
• At least five years' experience in a Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor role within a complex and ideally unionised environment
• Strong experience managing employee relations and industrial relations matters, including workplace investigations and organisational change
• Demonstrated experience supporting workforce planning, talent management, performance and development, employee engagement, organisational design, and change initiatives
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks
• The ability to provide practical, commercially focused people advice while balancing organisational risk and business outcomes
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing, communication, and relationship-building skills
• A collaborative, resilient, and outcome-focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
• Contribute to HR projects, system improvements, workforce planning, and business growth opportunities
