About The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Venue Operations Manager to help bring events to life. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the operational planning and delivery of events and activities, coordinate resources, and provide frontline leadership to event teams so every event is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Working closely with Venue Operations Managers, Event Managers, and the Venue Set Up team, you’ll help turn event plans into seamless delivery on the ground. You’ll respond to day-to-day operational needs, contribute ideas for continuous improvement, and support the development of team members while helping foster a positive, collaborative team culture.

This is a rostered role within a seven-day operation, so flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays is essential. This position will be predominantly rostered to work at Christchurch Town Hall, however, flexibility to work at any Venues Ōtautahi venues and events is required.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the delivery of assigned events at the Christchurch Town Hall and across other venues when required
  • Provide frontline leadership during event operations, helping teams deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes
  • Work closely with Venue Operations Managers, Event Managers, and the Venue Set Up team to turn plans into action
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar event or venue operations role, with strong on-the-floor delivery experience and a proven track record of successfully executing events and delivering high-quality customer experiences is essential
  • Solid experience with logistics involved with event delivery and ability to manage clients
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Confidence leading and supporting teams on the ground, with a calm and practical approach to problem-solving
  • A commitment to health, safety, and operational excellence, with a strong eye for detail
  • A collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and flexibility to work across a seven-day roster

We act with aspiration, agility, kindness and are driven to take care of the venues to make them places of pride and delight for everyone.

If you are excited about the opportunity to be part of a highly collaborative team, support the delivery of unique events, and work within prestigious venues, we’d love to hear from you.
