We are looking for experienced, motivated professionals to join our nationally connected Inspectorate team:

  • Inspector — Christchurch

This is purposeful regulatory roles at the heart of maintaining trust and confidence in the legal profession. You will support the effective oversight of legal practice, including inspecting law firms’ trust accounts under Regulation 25 of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act (Trust Account) Regulations 2008.

Inspectors are responsible for undertaking reviews of lawyer's trust accounts. They manage a range of matters, including complex and nationally significant issues. They also identify emerging trends, advise on operational improvements, support team capability, and help strengthen the performance of the wider Inspectorate.

The Inspector also works on reviews of trust accounts, and works with appropriate guidance to resolve a range of matters, including those of increasing complexity. The role also contributes to operational improvements, team initiatives, and collective performance.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant experience in audit, accounting, trust account supervision, legal practice, compliance, investigations, or a similar environment
  • Sound judgement, curiosity, and the confidence to navigate complex or sensitive matters
  • Strong analytical, interviewing, relationship-management, and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive national team
