We are looking for enthusiastic

Casual Kitchen Assistants to join our team at Southland Hospital. You will help deliver a quality catering service to patients and support the smooth running of our busy hospital kitchen.

These are casual positions, with hours offered as and when required based on business needs. Flexibility to work across different days and shifts is essential.

Ko o Kawenga / Your Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, portioning, plating, and tray-line service
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, crockery, and kitchen equipment
• Clean and sanitise kitchen, dining, and food service areas
• Respond to patient and customer requests professionally and promptly
• Follow food safety, hygiene, infection control, and health and safety procedures
• Replenish supplies and support general kitchen duties as required

He Kōrero Mōu / About You

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or similar role is preferred
• A food safety certificate, including Unit Standard 167, is an advantage
• Friendly and professional with good communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, hardworking, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team
• Physically fit and able to safely complete cleaning and kitchen duties
• Committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality
