Shotover Jet is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician / Kaipūkaha Ahu Moana to join our workshop team in the stunning Kimiākau (Shotover River) region.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to one of Aotearoa’s most iconic tourism experiences while supporting the kaupapa, tikaka, and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu Tourism.
Mō Te Tūraka – About The Role
As the Senior Maintenance Technician, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and high‑performing operation of our jet boat fleet. Your mahi will include:
- Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining high‑performance combustion engines, electrical systems, and water‑jet propulsion units
- Precision machining, fabrication, and welding (MIG/TIG) across stainless steel, aluminium, and other metals
- Working with technical drawings, specifications, SOPs, and service bulletins
- Conducting refits, scheduled servicing, and daily checks to a high engineering standard
- Supporting continuous improvement of engineering processes and asset development
- Providing delegated leadership and daily coordination when required
- Maintaining strong compliance with Maritime NZ Rule Part 82, health and safety, and Ngāi Tahu values
Mōu – About You
You will bring:
- 3+ years of mechanical or maintenance technician experience
- At least 1 year working with jet boats, marine systems, or high‑performance engines
- Strong skills in diagnostics, repairs, and fault‑finding across mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with machining, mills, lathes, and precision measurement
- Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding across aluminium and stainless steel
- A relevant engineering trade qualification (preferred)
- A commitment to health and safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship
- A willingness to grow your understanding of Ngāi Tahu values, te reo Māori, and tikaka
