Archway Recruitment has partnered with CMP New Zealand to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the growth of their Wellington-based national water infrastructure team.

CMP Consulting Group is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy specialising in water, wastewater and infrastructure projects across New Zealand and Australia. The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join CMP Consulting Group's growing multi-disciplinary water infrastructure team.

This is a pivotal role where you will contribute to the delivery of major water and wastewater projects across New Zealand and Australia, working alongside leading engineers, project managers, and client representatives.

You will play a key role in the design and delivery of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for critical infrastructure projects, including treatment plants and pump stations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and undertake electrical, instrumentation, and control (EI&C) design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, primarily treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Review electrical design deliverables prepared internally and externally, including drawings, specifications, equipment selections, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare and review detailed project documentation to support procurement, construction, and project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and development support to junior electrical engineers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
  • Support project delivery through all phases, from concept and design through to implementation and commissioning.

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 7+ years' experience in the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working within an engineering consultancy, contractor design team, or asset owner environment.
  • Strong experience in electrical systems design for treatment plants, pump stations, and associated infrastructure.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand electrical standards and the design standards, procedures, and requirements of water authorities.
  • CPEng and RPEV accreditation, or the capability to achieve these within 12 months with CMP's support.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to foster strong working relationships across project teams and client organisations.
