About The Role

  • This is a permanent position for 80 hours per fortnight
  • Monday to Friday
  • located at Royston Hospital in Hawkes Bay

As a Loan Equipment Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the efficient running of our Theatre Department. Working closely with the Theatre Services Manager, clinical teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders, you will coordinate the movement and tracking of loan equipment, implants, and instruments to ensure everything is in place for scheduled surgical procedures. This is a varied position that requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include

  • Coordinating the dispatch, receival, tracking, and documentation of loan sets and equipment.
  • Liaising with suppliers and external companies regarding loan equipment and prosthesis requirements for upcoming theatre lists.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and databases, ensuring information is up to date and readily available.
  • Monitoring long-term loan equipment and prosthesis, including stock levels and expiry dates.
  • Tracking instruments and equipment sent for repair and maintenance and ensuring timely return.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and quality activities within the department.
  • Working collaboratively with theatre staff and other hospital departments to ensure surgical lists run efficiently and without delay.

Previous experience in healthcare, logistics, administration, inventory management, or a similar coordination role would be advantageous but is not essential.
