The opportunity

Redpath Partners are representing a newly created position at a growing contractor who are looking for a Project Engineer to join their Queenstown operation. They've steady established themselves as a go to contractor for drainage and land development projects in the region and having secured a significant pipeline of work they're looking to expand their team.

This role presents exposure to challenging and technical drainage works and you will be working with top notch self-performed crews as minimum work is subcontracted. You'll need to be comfortable being site based and willing to support the crew to deliver outstanding results.

The Directors are hands on and engaged with the business daily so this position will offer support for senior leadership and present scope to take on more responsibility on for those who want more ownership of their career.

The requirements

You'll be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects from planning through to completion. You'll work closely with a self-performed site team to ensure the project remain on programme, within budget and achieve quality outcomes. This role combines technical engineering, commercial awareness and onsite leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the engineering and commercial delivery of projects
  • Assist in construction methodologies and work programmes that maximise productivity.
  • Monitor project performance by tracking costs,
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal crews to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
  • Manage contracts, project documentation, and oversee the timely processing of variations, progress claims.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing proactive solutions to improve project performance and profitability.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities and project stakeholders through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality and environmental excellence, ensuring compliance with company standards.
