We are seeking an experienced and proactive EHS Advisor based in Christchurch to support our Southern region within the manufacturing, feed mill, hatchery and agricultural operations.
This is a true EHS role, requiring a balanced focus on Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across a complex food manufacturing and agribusiness operation. Working closely with leaders and frontline teams, you will play a key role in building capability, reducing risk, ensuring compliance and driving a positive safety culture across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert EHS coaching, guidance and support to operational leaders and employees
- Conduct EHS audits, inspections, workplace assessments and risk reviews
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action management
- Deliver EHS training and support Health & Safety Representatives and site committees
- Maintain Environmental Management Plans and support compliance with environmental consent conditions
- Monitor environmental performance, including wastewater, stormwater, waste management, emissions and spill prevention controls
- Investigate environmental incidents, non-conformances and near misses, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented
- Support environmental compliance reporting and maintain required records and documentation
- Support customer, regulatory and third-party audits
- Drive risk assessment and Management of Change processes
- Monitor and report EHS performance and KPI results
- Partner with teams across manufacturing, feed mill, hatchery and agricultural operations to identify and manage operational risks and improve EHS performance
- Assist with health monitoring programmes, injury management and rehabilitation processes coordination. Guide and mentor users in the use of the online incident reporting and management system to ensure high reporting and corrective action close out rates
- Provide regional support to the Regional EHS Manager as required
What You'll Bring
Essential Requirements -
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an EHS Advisor, Health & Safety Advisor or similar role within a manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification
- ICAM Lead Investigator certification or equivalent incident investigation qualification
- Strong understanding of New Zealand health and safety legislation and practical risk management principles
- Experience conducting workplace incident investigations and implementing effective corrective actions
- Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance, including waste, wastewater, stormwater, resource consents or environmental monitoring programmes
- Experience supporting operations within food manufacturing, feed milling, hatchery, agriculture, primary production or other high-risk industrial environments
- Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence
- Current NZISM registration (or working towards registration)
- Diploma-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline is advantageous
- Experience managing environmental compliance within a food manufacturing or processing environment
