The opportunity - Te tūranga

As Digital Sport Reporter reporting to Executive Producer, Digital news, you will be responsible for producing high quality and engaging sport news content for 1News.co.nz in line with the News and Current Affairs Digital Strategy and objectives. In this role, you will work collaboratively across the newsroom to achieve editorial and content excellence and actively championing TVNZ's purpose and Rautaki Māori (Māori Strategy).

Your passion will be producing high quality and engaging sport news content that is balanced, error-free and meets the needs of 1News.co.nz and other platform audiences

What we're looking for - Tā mātou e kimi nei

To be successful, in this role we are looking for the following

  • Proficiency in text/video content creation and basic video editing.
  • Develop proficiency in our digital platforms, Saga and the CMS.
  • Strong awareness of New Zealand and international Sport News.
  • Strong understanding of the digital landscape.
  • Technologically literate, able to grasp new technologies quickly.
  • Knows social media and understands how to use it to gather and disseminate news.
  • Good news judgement and willing to learn new skills/work across platforms.
  • Manage time and resources efficiently and is able to work to deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Creative and lateral thinker.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience advantageous.
  • Experience as a writer.
  • Experience in digital and television news preferable.
  • Ideally experience with video editing, filming, and on-camera reporting.
  • Record of consistency under pressure.
