Senior Structural Engineer

The Opportunity

This well respected Engineering practice is seeking an experienced senior structural engineer based in Christchurch to join their growing team in New Zealand.

They are looking for someone who can immediately contribute to project delivery, provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and play a key role in developing client relationships and winning new work.

This is an opportunity for an established professional looking to influence both the technical and commercial success of a business, with a clear pathway toward a senior leadership position.

Project Delivery

• Experienced in leading the delivery of complex structural engineering projects from inception through to construction.
• Able to integrate quickly into existing projects, build confidence with clients and project teams, and take ownership of key aspects of delivery.
• Comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams and managing supporting engineers and technicians.
• Strong commercial awareness and project management capability.

Technical Leadership

• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) for minimum of 6 years .
• Proven experience in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• Civil structures experience would be highly valued.
• Capable of providing technical leadership, design review, mentoring, and engineering sign-off.
• Curious and innovative, with a willingness to challenge conventional approaches and explore new solutions.

Business Development & Client Relationships

• Demonstrated ability to establish and build trusted client relationships and generate repeat work.
• Existing professional network and a track record of developing new business opportunities.
• Comfortable representing the business in front of clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Interested in contributing to the long-term growth of the business, including helping to develop the next generation of clients and workstreams.
