Due to an internal promotion, Archway are partnering with a large, well-established organisation as they embark on the recruitment of a new Senior Financial Accountant to join their organisation. With operations throughout New Zealand and a workforce of more than 300 staff, the business offers plenty of complexity, exposure and opportunity for someone looking to broaden their commercial accounting experience.
The Role
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the financial accounting function while working closely with stakeholders across the business and international group entities. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
- Preparing consolidated statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures
- Coordinating external audit activities through to successful completion
- Supporting internal audit and compliance requirements
- Providing technical accounting advice on new and complex transactions
- Managing and reviewing financial controls and accounting policies
- Assisting with board reporting and financial commentary
- Supporting tax compliance including GST, FBT and transfer pricing requirements
- Completing group reporting obligations for offshore parent entities
- Driving process improvement initiatives across finance systems and reporting
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
Role Requirements
Skills
The client is flexible in the background you may bring to the role. You may currently be in a firm environment looking to break in to the commercial sector, or already out in a commercial role. Whilst the technical is important, the behavioural skills are equally important! Ideally, you'll bring the following skills and experience:
- CA qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards, including an understanding of consolidations.
- Advanced Excel capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach
- The confidence to take ownership while continuing to learn and develop
