Interim Chief Customer and Commercial

Wellington-based (3-5 days pw) | Executive Leadership Team | Fixed term, 18 months

MetService | Te Ratonga Tirorangi is seeking an exceptional executive leader to lead its Customer and Commercial division and with the Executive take us through a period of nationally significant transformation, growth and strengthened customer impact.

As New Zealand’s national weather authority and a globally unique, commercially successful products and services business, MetService plays a critical role in helping people, communities and businesses make confident decisions managing weather impacts in the context of a changing climate. This role will protect and grow revenue, deepen customer and stakeholder relationships, and strengthen reach, engagement and brand trust across Aotearoa New Zealand and international markets.

Lead commercial growth, sales, marketing, customer engagement, strategic partnerships and brand reputation to deliver strong customer outcomes, protect revenue and grow MetService’s value in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.

In This Role You Will

  • Balance leading commercial growth, sales, marketing, customer engagement, strategic partnerships and brand reputation with strategic transformation to help shape the Future MetService.
  • Shape a refreshed growth and customer strategy focused on high-value, decision-led weather and climate services.
  • Build a strong cross organisational commercial and customer culture.
  • Partner with the Board, Executive, government, Earth Science New Zealand, Māori / iwi, customers and sector partners to deliver strategic outcomes and current obligations.

You will be a commercially astute executive with a track record of successfully leading customer, sales, marketing or commercial functions through transformation, growth, uncertainty and change. You will bring strategic judgement, strong relationship leadership, confidence operating with Boards and senior stakeholders, growing capability in Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori, values-based work ethic, and the ability to turn experience and insight into sustainable growth. Experience in a State-Owned Enterprise or commercial complex regulated environments would be advantageous.
