Compliance Manager

About The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager Transport, this newly created Compliance Manager role will play a critical part in supporting Visy Logistics' growth across New Zealand. The role will lead the development of a scalable compliance function that strengthens customer confidence, supports industry requirements, and embeds effective operational controls across our transport business.

Working closely with customers, operational leaders and support functions, you will establish frameworks, governance, reporting and assurance processes that provide visibility of compliance obligations, risks and performance. You'll ensure compliance is embedded into day-to-day operations, helping the business meet customer commitments, maintain industry standards and drive continuous improvement.

This is not a traditional compliance administration role. We're looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who can build capability, influence stakeholders, improve processes and create practical solutions that support sustainable business growth.

What You’ll Do

The key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, policies and governance processes that support operational and customer requirements.
• Create and maintain visibility of compliance obligations, ownership, risks, evidence and performance.
• Lead compliance implementation initiatives across multiple operational business units.
• Partner with operational leaders to embed compliance controls and accountability within day-to-day activities.
• Manage assurance activities, audits, investigations and corrective action programs.
• Identify and manage industry certification, accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Develop meaningful reporting and dashboard visibility for operational and executive stakeholders.
• Analyse trends, identify risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Improve business processes through digitisation, workflow design and automation opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with customers, operational teams and support functions to drive compliance outcomes.

What You Will Bring

You'll bring a strategic mindset, strong operational understanding and the ability to translate compliance requirements into practical business outcomes. You will also bring:

• Demonstrated experience in compliance, governance, risk, assurance or audit leadership roles.
• Proven experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks, systems or operational controls.
• Strong project management and change management capability.
• Experience working in transport, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing or other operational environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to work across all levels of a business.
• Experience managing audits, risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using business systems, reporting platforms and digital workflow solutions.
• Exposure to process improvement, automation or continuous improvement initiatives will be highly regarded.
