He angitūtanga / The opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic Chef to join our team at CHT Bernadette in Tauranga. This is a casual position, offering as-needed hours across a 7-day roster to support operational requirements.

As a Chef, you will prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals for residents while ensuring food safety, quality and presentation standards are maintained. You will play an important role in delivering exceptional dining experiences and supporting the wellbeing of residents through nutritious and enjoyable meals.

Ko o Kawenga / Your Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals and baking for residents
• Assist with menu planning to meet dietary and cultural requirements
• Support food ordering, stock control and inventory management
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
• Monitor portion control and minimise food wastage
• Deliver excellent customer service and contribute to resident satisfaction

He Kōrero Mōu / About You

• At least 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen or similar food service environment
• NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or equivalent qualification preferred
• Strong food safety knowledge and understanding of dietary requirements
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
• Reliable, positive and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Physically fit with a flexible attitude and strong work ethic
