Catchment Management Officer

Mō te tūranga | About the role

• Participate in the development of catchment management work programmes, plans and budgets.
• Plan, supervise and deliver specific catchment management projects including erosion control, plant pest control and riparian enhancement.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, Iwi, community representatives and ratepayers.
• Provide ongoing advice and information.
• Taupo based position.

• Developing project/contract management skills.
• Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated computer literacy including recording and reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Demonstrated ability to handle difficult clients and build strong client relationships.
• Thrive on providing exceptional customer service.
• Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
• Enjoy working outside, good level of fitness.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

• A minimum of 3 years of experience (preferably longer) in a land and/or catchment management or similar role
• A strong understanding and interest in soil conservation, erosion control, sustainable land management practices and agricultural farming systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience in preparing and presenting technical reports and plans.
• Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
