Role Description

This full-time, on-site Legal Support Officer role is based in Christchurch and is ideal for a recent law graduate seeking a career in a specialist practice. The Legal Support Officer holds a practising certificate and will assist the litigation team with preparing and organising legal documents, including affidavits, applications, and court forms, particularly in family, immigration, employment, and civil matters. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, managing legal workload, and maintaining accurate case files and records. The role also involves liaising with clients and external agencies under supervision, scheduling and coordinating court dates and meetings, and supporting the litigation team with courtroom preparation. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative environment, supporting efficient case management and high-quality client service.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Law, with particular interest or study in family and civil law contexts.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a law degree (LLB or equivalent) and eligibility for, or ability to seek, admission as a legal practitioner are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people experiencing sensitive family, immigration, or violence-related issues.
