Senior Quality Assurance Officer

NZ Nutrition Care Limited is a nutritional and health products manufacturing company based in Hamilton, New Zealand. As the company continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and responsible Senior QA (Senior Quality Assurance Officer).
The Senior QA will work closely with the quality, production, warehouse, R&D and management teams to ensure that raw materials, production processes, finished products and associated records comply with company quality requirements, customer requirements, and relevant New Zealand regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the company’s QA system and related procedures to ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, RMP and related food safety.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, production deviations and quality issues using root cause analysis and develop, follow up and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare for and coordinate internal, customer, certification and regulatory audits. Ensure the QA system, documentation and records are audit-ready, coordinate audit activities, respond to auditor requests, and manage the follow-up and close-out of audit findings and corrective actions
- Monitor production processes to ensure production is carried out in accordance with approved SOPs and quality requirements.
- Identify production and quality risks and drive quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review batch manufacturing records, quality records and other relevant documentation, and release products once all quality and compliance requirements have been met.
- Manage sampling, testing and quality record review for raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, water and the environment.
- Manage the quality control of quarantined, returned, scrapped and other non-conforming raw materials and products.
- Provide training to quality, production, warehouse and other relevant employees on quality systems and operational requirements.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant QA experience, preferably in food, nutritional supplements, health products, pharmaceutical or related manufacturing industries.
- Sound knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety and quality management systems.
- Experience handling non-conformances, deviations, CAPA and customer complaints.
- Strong document and record management skills.
- High attention to detail and a strong quality focus.
- Ability to independently investigate quality issues and conduct root cause analysis.
- Good communication and teamwork skills and ability to work effectively across departments including production, warehouse, R&D and quality.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for quality issues.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to guide, train and develop QA/QC or production staff.
- Ability to work in a production environment and adapt to a fast-paced workplace.
The following experience or qualifications will be advantageous:
- Experience with New Zealand RMP (Risk Management Programme), Organic Certification, Halal Certification, ISO certifications or other regulations or standards.
- Familiarity with New Zealand MPI importing and exporting requirements.
- Experience writing internal documentation including SOPs and work instructions.
- HACCP / Food Safety / Internal Auditor qualifications.
- Tertiary quality in food science, science, or related area.
- Experience in nutritional supplement, health product or dietary supplement manufacturing, or experience manufacturing powder, liquid or other food.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese.
- Experience in supplier quality management or raw material quality management.
