About Squirrel

Squirrel is an Auckland-based fintech and specialist financial services business spanning mortgage advice, mortgage backed lending, and a fast-growing savings and investing platform. Founder-led culture and unapologetically bold, Squirrel has seen a significant increase in funds over the past five years by delivering better products, challenging the status quo, and putting customers first. This is a business that moves quickly, invests heavily in its advantage, and rewards people who get stuff done.

The Role

As an Investment Adviser at Squirrel, you’ll play a key role in helping clients grow and protect their wealth through a range of Squirrel investment products. Working from their Auckland office, you’ll build trusted relationships with both new and existing clients, taking the time to understand their goals and providing product based investment advice that meets their needs.

You’ll work closely with investors, guiding them through Squirrel’s managed funds and investment solutions with confidence and professionalism. This is a relationship-focused role where you’ll combine technical expertise with exceptional client service to deliver an outstanding client experience while ensuring all advice meets regulatory and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert inbound enquiries into long-term investor relationships
  • Grow funds under management across existing clients, referrals, and new investors
  • Build trusted relationships with retail, wholesale, and high-net-worth investors
  • Guide clients through Squirrel’s investment options, explaining products, returns, and risk clearly
  • Develop referral networks across financial and professional advisers
  • Proactively review client portfolios and identify opportunities as circumstances evolve
  • Partner with Mortgage Advisers and the Property Finance team to deliver seamless client outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records and meet all compliance and disclosure obligations

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum of two years in a financial services institution; bank, non-bank, or funds management background
  • Tertiary qualified, ideally with economics or finance in your undergraduate degree
  • NZ Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5), Investment strand, or actively working towards it
  • Sound understanding of NZ financial markets, managed funds, and relevant legislation
  • A confident, consultative communicator who can hold the right conversation with a sophisticated investor
  • Commercially sharp, with a proven ability to grow and convert client relationships
  • Curious, adaptable, and self-motivated, with a strong moral compass

What’s In It For You

This is a rare chance to join a founder-led fintech which is experiencing significant growth. You will work across the full spectrum of investors and be trusted to run your own relationships your way. The team is grounded, collaborative, and aligned in their goals – a perfect time for you to join and play your part in their next chapter.

Benefits Include

  • Competitive compensation including base salary and incentives
  • Flexible working hours
  • Level 5 study support if required
