About The Team

Operations Process & Technology Improvement (OPTI) is a key function in the Operations Division. It identifies future capability needs, sets the roadmap and investment plan, and governs delivery to ensure value for money and strategic outcomes.

OPTI also improves efficiency by identifying and implementing technology and process improvements to meet evolving service expectations, while supporting key operational tools.

Our OPTI Investment Delivery Team has a full programme and a pipeline of approved projects extending over multiple years. Projects include joint work with the Electricity Authority and transformational change initiatives for Operations. The team works across Operations, and with Information Services and Technology (IST), the Electricity Authority, service providers, engineering consultants, and industry participants.

About the opportunity – 12 months fixed term due to workload

Based at our head office, Waikoukou, in Wellington, you'll play a hands-on role delivering projects and supporting business change across Transpower.

You’ll work with and learn from our experienced delivery team including SMEs who bring deep expertise and institutional knowledge and build enduring relationships organisation wide.

What will you bring?

Experience in complex environments, strong project management practice, and curiosity which helps facilitate knowledge sharing and deliver great outcomes.

We’d love to hear from you if you bring excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, pragmatism, and a delivery focus. To be shortlisted your work history, cover letter, and CV will demonstrate:

• Experience in the energy sector, networked operational businesses, or critical utilities (understanding of regulated business is advantageous)
• Project management experience across the full project lifecycle in business change environments (please share with us key metrics, size/scale and complexity)
• Experience delivering multiple projects concurrently while balancing diverse stakeholder needs
• Delivering with a “no surprises” approach in large, complex, commercially oriented environments
• Competence in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project, and workflow tools such as Jira

Understanding of the System Operator role or Electricity Market is advantageous.
