At NZ Post, our story is evolving—and we need a skilled communicator to help tell it. We're looking for a Senior Communications Specialist who can help shape and deliver our communications strategy and bring Kiwis on the journey.

Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga – About The Role

As a Senior Communications Specialist, you'll play a key role in helping NZ Post tell its story in a way that is relevant, engaging and aligned to our strategic priorities.

Reporting to the Corporate Communications Manager, you'll provide expert communications advice and support across NZ post, working closely with senior leaders to deliver impactful internal and external communications strategies. With a skill for translating complex information into meaningful communications, you'll play a critical role in aligning messaging across the business and ensuring that what we say connects with why we do it.

You'll Do That Through

  • Developing and delivering integrated communications strategies that support key business priorities, while strengthening understanding, engagement and reputation.
  • Providing trusted, best-practice communications advice to senior leaders and teams.
  • Creating communications strategies, tools and content that connects audiences with the work NZ Post does to deliver what people care about every day.
  • Managing stakeholder engagement across large-scale initiatives
  • Managing content across a variety of channels, ensuring consistency, clarity and alignment to strategy and brand.
  • Getting involved in a variety of key projects and supporting the wider team in a collaborative, can-do way.

This is a broad communications role where you can have a real impact. While you'll bring experience across both internal and external communications, you'll have particular strength in media relations, external communications or corporate storytelling. You'll be comfortable operating in both proactive and reactive environments, leveraging earned and owned channels to tell stories that showcase our people, customers and impact.

You're an experienced communications professional who combines strategic thinking with exceptional storytelling skills. With the ability of influence, engage and simplify the complex, you understand how to identify the story behind the work and tailor messages for different audiences. You're confident advising senior leaders and navigating complex communications opportunities and challenges, providing trusted, best-practice advice.

You'll bring broad communications experience, strong stakeholder management skills and a proactive mindset. Creative, adaptable and commercially aware, you're comfortable working across a variety of topics and priorities, building trusted relationships and delivering high-quality communications that support business outcomes.

You'll Combine That With

  • 7+ years' communications experience in a complex organisation
  • Strength across both internal and external communications, with expertise in media relations, external communications or corporate storytelling
  • Proven experience developing and delivering strategic communications with measurable impact
  • Outstanding writing, editing, storytelling and content creation skills across a variety of formats and channels
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience partnering with senior leaders
  • A proactive, creative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and excellent time management skills
