What you’ll do

We're looking for two ambitious graduates to join our Graduate Programme, a two-year journey that will give you hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure across multiple areas of the business.

Over two years, you'll complete five rotations designed to give you a holistic view of Aotearoa New Zealand's energy market:

• Spot Trading - Learn the fundamentals of the NZ electricity wholesale spot market and how Genesis monetises its generation assets while managing risk.
• Fuels Strategy - Gain a deep understanding of fuel supply chains and how they interact with the wider business.
• Derivatives Trading - Explore the fundamentals of derivatives trading in NZ electricity markets, including futures and options, supply-demand drivers, and market-making obligations.
• Portfolio Management - Understand Genesis' portfolio and how different assets inter-relate. Gain exposure to portfolio decision-making and governance processes.
• Commodity Risk - Learn how commodity market risks are identified, measured and managed across Genesis' portfolio.

Each rotation gives you the opportunity to learn, contribute and build the knowledge and confidence to grow your career.

Please note that this programme will require the incumbent to be based in our Auckland office and may involve travel to our Hamilton office.

What you’ll need

We're seeking grads who are proactive, curious, and enjoy working with others. Bring your drive and interest in the electricity market, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute to real projects and develop your skills in the moment, for the future.

• Tertiary qualification in a quantitative, analytical, engineering or relevant discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a genuine curiosity to learn
• Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
• Graduated within the last 12 months or will graduate by December 2026
• Eligible to work in New Zealand permanently
