Otumoetai Tennis Club (OTC) is one of the Bay of Plenty's leading Tennis Clubs, with outstanding 14 court facilities, a strong membership base and a welcoming community culture.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Tennis Coach to lead and grow our coaching programme. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of tennis at OTC by developing players of all ages and abilities while helping build one of New Zealand's premier community tennis programmes.
Position Purpose
· Lead and deliver OTC's coaching programme
· Manage Assistant Coaches
· Manage Junior Tennis programme in collaboration with the Junior Committee
· Develop clear player pathways from beginner through to competitive tennis
· Grow participation, membership and community engagement
· Work collaboratively with the Club Committee to deliver the club's strategic vision
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver high-quality coaching to juniors and adults of all ages and abilities
· Develop player pathways from Hot Shots through to representative and tournament tennis
· Deliver private lessons, group coaching, squads, holiday programmes and school programmes
· Develop and support a performance academy to retain talented local players
· Manage coaching schedules, court allocations, player records and communications
· Coordinate holiday programmes, tournaments and special events
· Support interclub teams and representative players
· Develop relationships with local schools and community organisations
· Promote coaching programmes through social media and club marketing
· Mentor assistant coaches and maintain a positive coaching culture
· Maintain current coaching qualifications and undertake ongoing professional development
About You
· Minimum 3 years structured tennis coaching experience
· Tennis NZ, Tennis Australia Level 1 Development Coach (or equivalent)
· Experience coaching all ages and abilities
· Knowledge of long-term athlete development
· Excellent communication and organisational skills
· Ability to build strong relationships with players, parents and members
· Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
· Full driver's licence and legal right to work in New Zealand
· Passed a Police Vet
Desirable Experience
· Growing club coaching programmes
· High performance or representative player development
· School coaching programmes
· Cardio Tennis and/or Tennis Xpress accreditation
· Tournament management
· Marketing and social media experience
