The opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated career Animal Services Officer to enhance our team!

You may come with compliance experience or be someone with all the right qualities and has the ability and desire to learn and excel as an enforcement officer.

This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including addressing complaints related to dog attacks and roaming livestock. You'll be tasked with conducting thorough investigations that adhere to strict legal guidelines, as you may occasionally be asked to present evidence in court.

The ideal candidate will excel in interacting with a diverse array of individuals, some of whom may present aggressive behaviour or challenging attitudes. It's crucial that you're skilled in managing relationships, navigating conflicts, and resolving disputes with confidence. Confidence around dogs, the ability to stay composed under stress, and a focus on finding solutions are also key attributes for success.

Your experience will be supported by innovative individual skills combined with the ability to bond as a team player to ensure the team retains its position as a group of high performing animal service professionals.

To set you up for success, you'll have

• Great communication and proven conflict resolution skills.

• The ability to deal with difficult potentially confrontational situations.

• The ability to make sound decisions which are in the best interests of the community, whilst demonstrating consistency and compliance with legislation.

• The ability to think on your feet and resolve situations when they arise.

• An understanding of office systems and associated information technology.

• Investigation skills, experience with legislation and report writing would be ideal.

• Preferably at least 1 years' experience in a public facing compliance background.
