We're looking for an experienced
Senior Business Analyst to join our Strategic Project Office (SPO). This is an exciting opportunity to partner with stakeholders across the business, lead business analysis activities on a variety of strategic initiatives, and help deliver solutions that improve the way we operate.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Reporting to the Director - Strategic Project Office, you'll play a key role in delivering internal strategic projects, with a strong focus on technology, digital enablement and business transformation. You'll bridge the gap between business needs and technology, ensuring solutions deliver real value, improve efficiency, and support Tonkin + Taylor's strategic direction.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work alongside business leaders, project teams and technology specialists to understand challenges, define opportunities, and deliver practical, future-focused solutions.
In addition, you will:
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand strategic objectives, business challenges and opportunities.
- Gather, analyse and document business, functional and technical requirements.
- Lead process analysis, business process redesign, value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops to build alignment, solve problems and support informed decision-making.
- Develop process maps, use cases, requirements documentation, technical specifications and other project artefacts.
- Identify opportunities to leverage digital technologies, automation and process improvements.
- Support solution evaluation, testing, implementation and business change activities.
- Develop test plans and test cases and work with users to ensure solutions meet business needs.
- Assist with training material development and end-user training.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical information for a wide range of audiences.
- Use data and insights to identify trends, measure outcomes and support continuous improvement.
- Mentor and support junior Business Analysts in the team
This position is full-time and based at our Auckland City office.
Nā tōu rourou | What you'll bring
You'll bring a combination of strong analytical capability, commercial thinking and excellent relationship-building skills. You're curious, collaborative and enjoy solving complex business problems while keeping people at the centre of change.
You'll ideally have:
- 5+ years' experience as a Senior Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst.
- Demonstrated experience delivering business analysis across strategic or digital or technology transformation projects.
- Strong business process design, process re-engineering and value stream mapping experience.
- Experience with process improvement, Lean methodologies and business automation initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills.
- The ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
- A solid understanding of business systems, technology solutions and system design principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- CBAP, Agile Business Analyst, CBA or equivalent certification (desirable).
