Lead the financial performance and support the strategic direction of New Zealand's largest media organisation as GM Commercial Finance & Planning. Reporting to the CFO and acting as their 2IC, you'll partner with the Executive team to drive business performance, resource allocation and strategic decision-making across TVNZ.

The opportunity - Te tūranga

As the GM Commercial Finance & Planning, reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer, you will play a pivotal and senior leadership role in driving the execution of TVNZ's strategic and financial priorities.

Acting as the CFO's 2IC, you will lead the Commercial Finance, Planning and Business Partnering functions, providing high-quality financial insight, analysis and recommendations that support key commercial, strategic and operational decisions.

By partnering closely with the CFO and Executive team, you will help drive business performance by ensuring clear visibility of risks, opportunities and key performance drivers, enabling informed decision-making and effective resource allocation across the organisation.

You will also play a critical role in strengthening governance through leadership of TVNZ's Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Internal Audit and Assurance programme. Leading a team of seven, including four direct reports, you will foster a high performing finance function that delivers value, supports growth and helps achieve TVNZ's long-term strategic objectives.

What we're looking for - Tā mātou e kimi nei

To be successful in this role we are looking for the following

  • Proven experience as a senior leader at GM level or equivalent, leading a companywide complex planning function, and or commercial finance function.
  • Degree qualified, certified accountant, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong experience of excellent Finance processes, process improvement and business partnering and can translate across industries.
  • Experience of driver based reporting and strong use of these to lift performance.
  • Enterprise Risk management and internal audit experience beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing Board papers, presenting in Executive meetings and Board exposure
  • Ability to leverage curiosity and commercial acumen to drive results.
  • Confident to influence and mobilise cross-functional teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Sophisticated internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead teams in an environment of competing interests and limited resources.
