Data Analyst - NZ

Job Summary

We are looking for a Data Analytics Specialist who can bridge business needs and technical solutions. The role involves gathering requirements, understanding business problems, mapping them to systems, and enabling data-driven decision-making. You will collaborate with architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to conceptualize, design and deliver analytics projects. Should have good retail domain knowledge. This will be a client facing role.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

• Engage with business users to capture requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Understand business processes and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.

Solution Mapping & Design

• Map business problems to appropriate systems and workflows.
• Define data collation strategies and propose analytical solutions.

Data Analysis

• Perform exploratory data analysis, data profiling, and quality checks.
• Apply basic statistics for deriving insights.

Collaboration & Enablement

• Work closely with architects, data scientists, and business teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Support creation of project plans and deliverables.

Communication & Documentation

• Articulate findings, solution approaches, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for business consumption.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Database Skills: Strong SQL knowledge for data extraction using joins, filters, aggregations, views etc. Query optimization.

Programming: Familiarity with

Python for data manipulation and analytics.

Analytics: Good Knowledge of Power BI based reporting / dashboarding and data analysis using SQL, Excel.

Business Understanding: Ability to interpret business problems and map them to analytical solutions. Ability to understand business processes related to Pricing, Merchandising, Sales & returns, Loyalty, Customer behavior, Supply chain and Marketing areas in retail domain.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills using PowerPoint and Power BI reports for stakeholder engagement.

Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams with architects, data scientists, and business users. Should be able to articulate the data science based solution output to business users.

Nice-to-Have

• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance practices.

Education: Bachelor's / Master's in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
