Christchurch now boasts a state-of-the-art, multi-use stadium, and we're looking for a highly skilled turf management professional to maintain its world-class standards. This cutting-edge venue has become the go-to destination for major regional, national, and international sporting events and concerts, showcasing top-tier talent on an elite stage.

We are looking to add to our talented and passionate sports turf management team who maintain and elevate the playing surface that will host unforgettable moments.

The team operates under a structured hierarchy to ensure the efficient planning, services, and enhancement of all turf areas within the stadium precinct and the associated dedicated turf farm.

Duties

The Sports Turf Curators are responsible for the daily maintenance and preparation of the stadium playing surface and surrounding turf areas. Their duties include:

  • Mowing
  • Line marking
  • Irrigation
  • Fertilisation
  • Pest and disease management
  • Renovation work
  • Match and event day set-up under the direction of senior staff

Due to the nature of operations at a high-performance, multi-use venue, the Te Kaha Turf Management Team operate on a flexible, 7-day roster. Team members will be required to work some weekends, public holidays, and outside standard business hours as required, to support events at the venue. Rosters will be planned in advance and include fair and equitable distribution of hours. This flexible approach ensures the playing surface and surrounding turf areas are maintained to the highest standards before, during, and after all scheduled events.

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei

Your 5 years' experience in turf preparation and grounds maintenance will well equip you for this role. You'll love working in a team environment, with initiative and drive to demonstrate excellence in turf management. This is a chance to work as an important member of a dedicated and passionate team, in a supportive environment while furthering your turf career in a location that will utilise and enhance all your skill.

You'll Also Bring

  • A relevant trade qualification (Level 4 Sports Turf Management) or equivalent practical experience in a similar role
  • A full, current driver’s licence
  • GrowSafe certification
  • A current Workplace First Aid Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in stadium or sports field management, including exposure to domestic, national, and international-level events
  • Flexibility and availability to work across a 7-day roster

  • Hours of work - The Te Kaha Turf Management Team operate on a flexible, 7-day roster.
  • Position - Full-time, permanent
  • Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $74,394 to $82,660 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
  • Closing Date - Thursday 23 July, 11:55pm
